The Grand Eproch_Trail

Since the first Chinese landed in Canada, Chinese immigrants have made outstanding contributions in various fields here. This audiobook is a vivid portrait of the spirit of the Chinese ethnic group and a profound sentiment towards the Chinese immigrants. It's not just a grand narrative of the lives and struggles of overseas Chinese, but also a deeply emotional work that inwardly explores human migration culture. Every step forward since we left our homeland is a step towards shaping the future. Our relentless efforts and deep passion for actively adapting and developing overseas are exemplary and model contributions made by the Chinese ethnic group in Canada towards a better tomorrow.

Dr. Larry N. Shyu was born in 1933 in mainland China and moved to Taiwan with his parents in his youth. He received a Master of Arts degree at the University of Washington in 1960. After teaching at Hong Kong Baptist University for three years, he went to Columbia University in the United States for further studies and received a Ph.D. in 1972. Dr. Shyu joined the University of New Brunswick (UNB) in 1968, and retired in 1998 after thirty years of service and was granted the title of Professor Emeritus by UNB. In 1977, he co-founded the Chinese Cultural Association of New Brunswick (CCANB). His dedication to local cultural and educational causes and to the minority community has won him respect and admiration from all walks of life.

As we move towards the future, we need to sort out the past even more. Our work not only presents the positive force contributed by the Chinese to Canada's economic development, social progress, and cultural diversity, but also shows the collaboration, enthusiasm, creativity, and unity exhibited by Canada as a multicultural country.
